Hola I'd take a look at the HP 6730b's drivers. It's a similar HP business class notebook. It's coincidently is offered with XP and has XP drivers. I would think a lot of the drivers would be the same, though you may not get all of them there. You may have to look around for others. They tend not to think outside the box. That's what I'm planning on doing with my dv5z when it arrives this week, though I'll be looking at the 6735b which is AMD based like my dv5z.Make sure you burn off the recovery discs so you have it in case all doesn't go well and you can put Vista back if needed.

Also save a copy of the SWTools setup folder which contains all the software installed on your machine. First of all, if your dv5 has an Intel processor, then it's dv5t. If it's AMD processor, then its dv5z.Here's a good place to get you started:How to install Windows XP on your dv5t/z.Also, to avoid that bluescreen, you have to slipstream SATA drivers to your copy of windows xp. Here are instructions on how to slipstream the proper SATA onto your copy of Windows XP. Note you will need a CD burner.Make sure you download and use these SATA drivers, not the one from the link above. Use these instead:I'm pretty sure this is what I used to successfully avoid the bluescreen.Other than that, you should be fine.
Make sure you find all your drivers first and back them up to a CD or external Hard Drive.
